Boko Haram abducts new school girls in Yobe

The Yobe state government has confirmed that Boko Haram insurgents abducted some female students of Government Girls Science Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe state on Monday.

There has been a controversy over the whereabouts of the students, with Abdulmaliki Sumonu, commissioner of police in the state, saying he could not confirm if the insurgents kidnapped the students.

But Ibrahim Gaidam, governor of the state, who confirmed the abduction on Wednesday night, said the army was able to secure the release some of the girls.

He said those who regained freedom are currently in custody of the army.
