All is now set for this year’s Imo Day in Lagos billed for Saturday, November 10, at the Training Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The event which is being put together by Imo State Towns Development Association, Lagos, (ISTDAL), would attract all the autonomous communities in the state.
A top official of the organizers, Agu Chris Ekeocha said yesterday that this year’s theme, Aku ruo ulo ( taking wealth home) is one which Ndigbo can not but ponder over against the backdrop of the poor infrastructural facilities and the very little industrial presence that is the lot of the South East zone of the country, especially Imo State.
“Aku ruo ulo is a theme we have carefully chosen as a way of making our people realize the need to also develop our area. Captains of industries from the zone can register their presence at home as a way of creating job opportunities for the teeming youths back home,” Ekeocha said.
This year’s event has Chief Chuks Okeugiri, Oduagu 1 of Ama Ano Ezinachi, Okigwe as chairman.
Meanwhile, Ekeocha’s autonomous community, Umuohiagu in Ngor Okpalla local government area is set to showcase the popular Nwokorobo cultural dance which the community is known for at the Imo carnival. Ekeocha said his kinsmen has been preparing for the day in the last couple of month and are set to thrill Imo people and their guests to the best of cultural music.
“It promises to be a fun filled day for all Imolites and their guests,” Ekeocha said.
