Officials from the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) are combing the Lagos Lagoon in search of an unidentified man who allegedly plunged into the lagoon from the Lekki-Ikoyi Link bridge.
Witnesses told newsreportersng.com the incident which took place around 11am came as a shock to persons around the area.
The witness said that the man who should be in his late 40s took a dive into the lagoon minutes after he arrive the bridge, adding that, “It happened so fast. We thought he wanted to relax for a while.
“We were standing here when the man coming from the Lekki end of the bridge dropped his belongings and dived into the lagoon,” he said.
Officials of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Marine Police and other relevant agencies are at the scene.
The incident comes six months after a medical doctor, only identified as Allwell Orji jumped into the lagoon from the Adekunle axis of the third mainland bridge.
Shortly after that incident, a man jumped into a canal in the Festac area of Lagos State.
