Ex international, Chikelue Iloanusi has tipped Super Eagles to carry the day in Saturday’s all-important AFCON 2019 qualifier against host Seychelles in Victoria.
Iloanusi who is with the Eagles in Seychelles told NewsReporters.ng that the boys are in high spirits ahead of the tie and have vowed to win the encounter and keep Nigeria’s hope of making it to Cameroon alive.
“Our boys know how important the game is after the loss to South Africa in the very first match of the qualifiers. They are all in high spirits. I like the mood in camp…it is a mood that gives you that feeling that victory is certain,” Iloanusi said.
Iloanusi who missed being in Russia to cheer the team due to pressing family engagements said he has enjoyed staying with the young lads ahead of the AFCON qualifier.
“We have a crop of players who are eager to make a name for themselves and also do the country proud. The good thing is that the boys are united and do things like brothers in camp. There is no division in camp and this what a team need to do well.”
Saturday’s game is one in which German tactician Gernot Rohr may introduce a good number of newcomers. All the 21 players in camp are however ready for action as there are no injury worries again after the trio of Alex Iwobi, Troost Ekong and Ola Aina pulled out of the game because of injuries copped in their various clubs.
The AFCON qualifier is billed to kick off 1:30 PM Nigerian time with the President and Vice President of Seychelles leading the band of home fans that would be cheering the host.
