The weekly meeting of Nigerian government functionaries, commonly called Federal Executive Council meeting will not be holding again today.
The meeting would have been the first FEC meeting to be presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari following his return from medical vacation in London.
A statement from the president’s special adviser on media and publicity Mr. Femi Adesina says the President will, however, receive the report of the committee investigating allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke.
That committee is headed by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who has been presiding over FEC meetings in the president’s absence.
The suspended SGF is being investigated over allegations of violations of law and due process in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).
Mr. Ayo Oke the suspended NIA Director-General is also facing investigation following the discovery of large amounts of foreign and local currencies by the EFCC in a residential apartment Osborne towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, claimed by the National Intelligence Agency.
