By George Aluo

Zambian international, Solomon Sakala has thrown his weight behind the African Youth Soccer tournament, Africa Youth Cup, billed for early next year in Praia, Cape Verde.

Sakala in a comment left in the Facebook account of the organizers of the tournament, Serahanasports noted that he is a product of such international youth tournaments.

In his words:”International youth soccer tournaments like the Africa youth Cup have contributed to my soccer achievements.”

The immensely talented forward who led Zambia to the FIFA U -20 World Cup some years back said he was part of similar tourneys in Barcelona, Lisbon and Paris where his skills were horned.

“I participated in youth tournaments with Serahanasports in Lisbon, Barcelona and Paris playing for Lusaka Youth Soccer Academy. Playing as a youth outside Zambia improved my game and confidence which is why I m fully endorsing the Africa Youth Cup coming up next year in Praia, Cape Verde.”

Sakala urged soccer Academies in Africa and other parts of the world to register and feature in the tournament which he said would help the development of the game in the continent.

The  tournament, according to the organizers, Serahanasports, is Africa’s response to similar global summer youth soccer competitions such as Ibercup, Copa Catalunya, Paris World Games, Gothia Cup, Norway Cup, Dana Cup and Brazil Cup.

Serahanasports, it would be noted, has over the years served as the African representative of the afore-listed tournaments.

Serahanasports’s spokesman, Godson Abba Ekadi disclosed that after presenting African teams since 2012 in some of the best youth soccer tournaments across the globe, it was time for Africa to now host the world.
