“From the available record i have, over 95 persons have been killed. About 72 persons were killed in Nyarr village where the security was forcing the villagers to conduct mass burial for the victims on Sunday but the people refused that they want to take the carry corpses to the mortuary to give their loved ones befitting burial, as we are talking now they are still dragging on whether to carry the burial or not.

“Also, 34 persons were killed in Gana-Ropp, 11 persons in Gashish, 8 people in Kura Falls, 6 persons in Ex-Land and 9 persons were also killed in Shonong village of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.”

As we are talking now several persons are hospitalised at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), Plateau Specialist Hospital Jo’s, Bingham University Teaching Hospital Jos and Ola Hospital Jos.

“Some of the corpses that were evacuated from the villages are also deposited at the various hospital. The entire Berom land in Plateau is under helpless and nobody has made tremendous effort to assist, including some security personnel.”

Meanwhile, Plateau State government has imposed curfew in Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Jos South Local Government Areas to avert further breakdown of law and order.

In a Statement signed by Secretary to Government of the State (SGS), Hon. Rufus Bature, said movement is restricted from 6pm to 6am, except those on essential duties.

Meanwhile, the President Berom Youth Moulders-Asociation Rwas Choji Chuwang Dalyop, said over 110 persons were confirmed killed by the herdsmen.

In a press statement by Jatau Davou Gyang
BYM, National Publicity Secretary, said the villagers have fled out of the communities.

“The Berom Youth Moulders National Working Committee is saddened with the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Berom land with the recent extermination of Xland, Gidin Akwati, Kakuruk , Gana Ropp villages of Gashish Distirct Barkin Ladi Local Government and Shonong Village of Riyom Dstrict of Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau where over 110 natives have been confirmed killed.

“It would be recalled that Villages of Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Governemt Areas have in recent times witness sustained killings by those the Government has always referred to as “unknown gun-men”,. Between Monday 18th June 2018 and Friday 22nd June 2018 prior to the Saturday 23rd , June 2018 major massacre, the Berom nation has consistently buried an average of 5 people daily.

“Notably, there has been early warning signals of these ceaseless attacks, usually brought to the notice of the Special Task Force Stationed in the affected communities, unfortunately, they receive these massages with levity, thus seen as accomplices to these despicable acts.

“Currently , about 110 corpses of men, women and children have been discovered,(against a detestable and fallacious claim by Security Agencies that the death toll is just 11 (Eleven)), over 120 people nursing severe wounds in Vom Christian Hospital, Plateau Hospital, Jos University Teaching Hospital and other health care centers, while over 50 (Fifty) people are yet t be seen.”
