Former Super Eagles defender, Chikelue Iloenyosi says all he wants as his birthday gift today is goals from Super Eagles.
Iloenyosi who is celebrating his special day today said as an ex international, the only way he would pop champagne today with friends, relatives and well wishers is if the Eagles beat Libya silly in today’s AFCON qualifier in Uyo.
“Eagles are playing this game on my birthday. I pray they make the day joyful for me with goals. I want them to go all out and beat the Libyans silly. That would further brighten our chances of being part of the tournament next year in Cameroon,” Iloenyosi said.
The Anambra State born ex international said he is confident the Eagles would not only qualify for the Nations Cup, but lift the cup in Cameroon.
He pointed out that the team Gernot Rohr started building since he took over last year would continue to grow in confidence.
“We saw a very young team in Russia. It is good Rohr has continued to build his team around the young lads he took to the World Cup. All the Eagles need is time to become too formidable for any opponent to handle.”
Eagles would today in Uyo face Libya in one of the AFCON qualifiers, while South Africa and Seychelles would slug it out in the other match of the group.
South Africa and Libya enter their matches with four points, while the Eagles trail with three points. A win today for Nigeria and in the reverse fixture in four days time would guarantee the Eagles a place in Cameroon next year.
