Niger State Sports commissioner, Emmanuel Duza Babur is not one of those who have written off the Super Eagles after the 0-2 loss to Croatia on Saturday.
Babur who was clad in the nation’s green white green colors at the Kaliningrad Stadium told this writer that losing to Croatia was not the end of the road for Nigeria here in Russia, even as he urged Nigerians to keep supporting and praying for the team.
“It’s not over yet as some people want to believe. We can still fight back and make it beyond the group stage of the tournament. Nigerians should keep praying and supporting the team. On the part of Eagles, my advice is that they should play as a team and work for each other on the field,” Babur said.
The youthful sports commissioner, pointed out that the Croatians gave their country maximum support in the match against Nigeria insisting that Nigerians must support the Eagles all the way.
It would be noted that Croatians took over the entire 30,000 capacity stadium in Kaliningrad dwarfing the few Nigerian supporters in the stands.
Most of the Croatians drove into Kaliningrad by car as their country is just about 5 hours drive by road to the Russian city.
Eagles are billed to face Iceland on Friday in the city of Volgograd in a must win clash.
Anything short of a win means the Eagles would make an early exit in the tournament.
