Edo guber: APC foresaw defeat – PDP chieftain

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former member of the National Assembly, George Daika, has lampooned the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the postponement of the Edo State governorship elections, explaining that the postponement was a clear signal that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) is jittery and afraid of defeat in the election.
The PDP Chieftain alleged that the postponement was to give the APC another chance to perfect its plan to rig the election.
He however warned that Nigerians would not accept any manipulation of the election schedule to hold in two weeks
The PDP stalwart spoke with journalists in Jos , describing the call for postponement by security agents as being orchestrated of the APC to delay its eventual defeat in the election.
“As at Thursday afternoon, INEC was in a meeting with the security agencies, and after the meeting the commission insisted that the elections would hold as scheduled. And later the same day, INEC turned round to say it has postponed the election. Who is fooling who?” Daika queried.
Daika, however, believed that the PDP would still win polls, even after the postponement because Edo people are fully aware of the antics n y of the APC in collaboration with INEC and the security agencies.
On whether he was contesting for 2019 election in the state, Daika said it was too early to start discussing that now, adding that his priority for now, was to ensure effective reconciliation that will put the party on the right path to end APC’s rule in the state in 2019.
