Chairman of Enyimba FC of Aba, Felix Anyansi Agwu has given a pat on the back to Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu for taking the club to the next level in the area of infrastructure.
Anyansi who spoke while inspecting the extent of job done at the Enyimba Stadium ahead of next week’s CAF Confederation Cup home tie against Ivorian side, Williamsville said the new look Enyimba Stadium is mind blowing. He said posterity will never forget Ikpeazu for giving the People’s Elephants what they lack despite the avalanche of trophies won over the years.
“We have won everything winnable in Africa in the last couple of years. We have won over 27 trophies but in spite of our achievements we have nothing as a club when it comes to infrastructure. Today, Gov Ikpeazu has changed the face of the club with an arena that is world class. We have a playing turf that is state of the art. A pitch that is of the same quality as what we saw in Russia where we have just returned from. The Governor has not only written his name in gold but in diamond. Abia people will always remember him.”
On the part of the contractor, Monimichelle, Anyansi said it is a thing of joy that an indigenous firm owned by “one of our own”, is doing what only expatriates before now would have done.
“Monimichelle has shown that Nigerians have quality. He is a contractor that doesn’t compromise when it comes to quality. I m proud of him and I m confident his company would go places as the Enyimba job would be a good advertisement for him. As a club, we would continue to partner Monimichelle,” Anyansi said.
Everything points to Enyimba staging a return home from Calabar where they have in the last three seasons been prosecuting their home games.
