Enyimba, even before going into today’s CAF Confederation Cup semi finals clash against RAJA of Morocco has already won something for Nigeria.
NewsReportersng.com can exclusively confirm that courtesy of the club’s performance thus term, Nigeria would in 2020 enjoy again the privilege of having two teams in the competition.
CAF it would be noted has withdrawn one of the two tickets of the country in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
For the 2019 competition only Lobi Stars would be flying Nigeria’s flag in the money spinning CAF Champions league while the winner of Aiteo Cup would be the country’s sole representative in the CAF Confederation Cup.
However, in 2020, thanks to the present fine run of Enyimba, Nigeria would again be fielding two teams in the CAF Confederation Cup.
This much was disclosed exclusively to NewsReportersng.com by the second vice chairman of NFF, Shehu Dikko.
Dikko while commending Enyimba as they go into today’s semi final against RAJA said Enyimba has done well for the country.
“With their performance, we are going to have our two slots back in the competition in 2020. I say kudos to Enyimba and pray they go all the way this year and win the cup,” Dikko stated.
Enyimba would this afternoon (Wednesday) host RAJA in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup at their Aba fortress. The return leg would be decided in three weeks time in Rabat. Egypt’s Al Masry and AS Vita of DR Congo are slugging it out in the second semi final.
