Fire destroys old National Assembly complex

An afternoon fire has destroyed part of the old National Assembly Complex located around the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said the fire started around 3pm from the second floor of the building and spread to the 6th floor

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, officials of the NEMA and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Fire service were battling to control the fire, NEMA spokesman, Ibrahim Farinloye earlier today.

Farinloye said the fire affected the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th floors only, adding that the 6th, 7th and 8th floors were not affected.
