Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha has emerged winner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Guber primaries elections in Imo State which was concluded earlier on Tuesday.
The former speaker polled a total of 1, 723 votes to defeat Senator Samuel Anyanwu who pulled 1,282 votes.
Another former Senator Athan Achonu came third with 63 votes, while Prof . Jude Njoku former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri scored 21 to place fourth and Mr. Chukwuma Ekoaru (SAN), seven votes and Benneth Chukwuma Ezeji scored one vote came fifth and sixth respectively.
There were 46 void votes.
Sen Chiedozie Nwaka , chairman of the gubernatorial primaries of Imo. peoples Democratic party who declared Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as the winner , commended every person who had contributed to a peaceful, the state executives, the delegates and aspirants for their peaceful conduct.
Speaking to journalists after his declaration as the winner of the gubernatorial primaries election thanked the delegates for their confidence in him and promised to carry everybody along to ensure total victory for the party in 2019.
