Ex international, Waidi Akanni has warned Super Eagles players to approach Saturday’s international friendly against England at the famous Wembley Stadium with caution.
Akanni said the high profile game shouldn’t be one Eagles would strive to win at all cost as doing so could boomerang.
“This is a time to avoid last minute injury especially to key players. We all know the match is one Nigerians would want to see the Eagles at their best, but they must play with caution. The boys should keep their best for the real battle in Russia, ” Akanni said.
Akanni who alongside other ex internationals have been galvanising support for the Eagles said he is confident the team would do well in Russia.
“We have a young team, a team with players that want to make the kind of statement that the Atlanta 96 squad made,” Akanni said.
He stressed that the three goalkeepers Rohr is taking to Russia won’t disappoint.
“I think the area everybody appear to worry about is that of goalkeeping. However, I think the three goalkeepers Rohr has picked are good.”
