New Defence spokesman meets with journalists, appeal for support.

The newly appointed Director of  Defence Information(DDI), Major-General John Enenche, Wednesday met with journalists covering the Defence beat, with a call on them to always consider the national interest of the country in their reportage.

This is even as Gen. Enenche, has promised to rejuvenate the Defence information directorate to meet the challenges of the new Information Age.
Enenche, while noting that the Nigerian military has continued to be the backbone of the existence of the Nigerian nation, called for the cooperation of journalists who he described as stakeholders in national security.
He cautioned against negative reports that could jeopardize the security of the country especially with the participation of the military in various internal security operations across the country.
He commended the media for their role in the peace and stability of the nation and promised to ensure a better working relationship with the media even as he urged to always clarify sensitive security matters before going to press.
He said: “You must tell the truth at all times and not concoct stories that would generate unnecessary tension. Use your profession to enhance peace in Nigeria and the armed forces”.
