New Enyimba Stadium turf passes rain test

By George Aluo

Enyimba stadium’s new geotech turf has passed what could pass for rain test, few days after it was laid.

CEO of Monimichelle, Ebi Egbe disclosed yesterday that the pitch remained dry and in playable condition, even after a heavy downpour in Aba.

“The rains that fell after we laid the pitch helped us to see what the pitch would look like under heavy downpour. My joy is that the pitch was not waterlogged even when it rained cat and dog. That has been the hallmark of all the pitches Monimichelle construct,” Egbe said.

He stressed that the Enyimba pitch is 95 percent natural just like the Russian World Cup synthetic turfs.

“Apart from not being waterlogged, the ball behavior under heavy downpour was fantastic,” Egbe said.

The FIFA match agent said his outfit is working round the clock to ensure that the People’s Elephant host their next CAF Confederation Cup game against Williamsville of Ivory Coast at home on July 18.

It would be noted that other facilities in the stadium are also getting a facelift.

“Other facilities like dressing room and toilets are all being upgraded. The stadium is being painted in Enyimba colors. Over 200 people are right there now working. It is a massive transformation,” Egbe said.
