Kano Pillars Football Club on Sunday at the Sani Abacha Stadium defeated visiting Abia Warriors 2-0 in a week 35 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The home team opened scoring 25 minutes into the game through Nwagua Nyima to set the tone for an interesting game.
In the 27th minute, Pillars captain, Rabiu Ali doubled the lead.
At a post-match interview, Pillars handler, Ibrahim Musa, said he was satisfied with the performance of his team and that his team deserved the three points because they played well.
“With what I have seen today, it means the players are ready to prosecute their continental campaign.
“I want to call on our fans and supporters to be patient with us,’’ he said.
Musa promised that the team would work hard to win their next 2 games – with Nasarawa United in the league, and against Yobe Desert in Damaturu in an Aiteo Cup tie.
Meanwhile, Abia Warriors coach, Abdullahi Bifo, has congratulated his players for giving Pillars a good fight.
Bifo said that his team played well even though they failed to utilise the goal scoring chances they had.
He said that they would go back to the drawing board and restrategise ahead of their next home game against MFM FC.
Kano Pillars are now seventh on the league table with 51 points from 35 matches .(NAN)
