Officer who indicted military officers during arms probe killed in Lagos

Tragedy hit the  Nigerian Navy in the early hours of  Wednesday as a former member of the Presidential Committee on Arms and the Fleet Commander of the Western Naval Command (WNC) Rear Admiral Daniel Ikoli was found dead at his home in Apapa in Lagos.
Ikoli, was Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT and later appointed into the presidential committee probing the importation of  arms  into the country.
The officer was said to have been found in the pool of his own blood in the early hours of Wednesday.
Competent naval sources said that the officer was seen around in his office at Western Naval Command on Tuesday but left early after complaining he wasn’t feeling too well.
The source said he was not able to attend a function at the Western Naval Command on Tuesday afternoon  where most of the Admiral, generals and AVMs were present, and that since he left the Presidential Committee on Arms Importation, he had expressed fears about the  possibility of assassins coming after him.
The source said he, Admiral Ikoli, was the arrow head in the investigation of  the huge expenditure on arms during the era of Col Sambo Dasuki as  the  National Security Adviser.
