FIFA match agent and stadium facilities expert, Ebi Egbe has declared that NFF president Amaju Pinnick deserves praise and not persecution for all he has done for Nigerian Football.
Egbe who spoke against the backdrop of the crisis rocking Nigerian Football and the looming FIFA ban said anybody genuinely interested in the game would wait until September when the next NFF pools would hold to possibly unseat Pinnick.
“Resorting to the present tactics won’t do Nigerian Football any good. I personally feel Pinnick has done not just well, but very well since he came on board. But whoever feels otherwise should warm up for Katsina where elections would hold in September. We are making a mockery of ourselves in the world with what is happening right now. This was exactly the same shameful part we took four years ago after Brazil 2014. Must we continue to disgrace ourselves before the world?”Egbe queried.
Egbe pointed out that courtesy of Pinnick’s efforts, Super Eagles camp didn’t boil in Russia, only for those who enjoy crisis to ignite one immediately after Nigeria’s campaign ended.
He stressed that Pinnick has succeeded in making Nigeria a force to reckon with both in CAF and FIFA with the avalanche of Nigerians who are there now.
“I don’t really understand why anybody would want to stop this wheel of progress,” Egbe said.
Meanwhile, world soccer governing body, FIFA has made it clear that Pinnick remains the President of NFF insisting that Nigeria would be hit with a ban from international football should any external body sack him.
FIFA president, Gianni Infantino who spoke at a world press conference in Moscow on Friday stated: “As far as FIFA is concerned, Pinnick is President of Nigeria football federation…and that is end of the story.”
