Tragedy struck the Imo state Police command, Owerri Tuesday, as a Police Inspector attached to the government house was brutally killed by some unknown persons in the state.
The police officer was alleged to have strangled by some yet to be identified assailant in the Alvana Shell Camp road in Owerri.
The remains of the police officer identified as Haruna Kawura according to witnesses, was found lying along Alvana Shell Camp road, Owerri on Tuesday morning.
The corpse of the deceased police officer which was riddled with marks was said to had gone out for a night out on Monday night.
When our correspondent visited the scene, people including policemen were seen .
A witness who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “Haruna was demobbed from mobile police in the North and was posted to Imo state and was later posted to Imo government house.
“His death was strange. There were bruises on his body. He must had been strangled as there was gunshot wound on his body.”
Confirming the ugly incident the Imo state Police Command spokesperson Mr. Orlando Ikeokwu ( SP)said the command has commenced an investigation into the matter.
