The Nigerian presidency has reacted to the country’s Senate’s rejection of Ibrahim Magu as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) saying this has to be officially communicated to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Magu, head of the anti graft commission, was screened by the Senate on Wednesday, March 15 three months after his confirmation was first rejected but at the end of the second screening, his confirmation was refused again.

In addition, the Senate insisted that Magu had lost the power to continue in the capacity as acting chairman of the EFCC and thus President Buhari should re-nominate another person for the position.
