Tragedy at UCH as man takes a plunge

Tragedy struck the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan on Wednesday as an unidentified man has reportedly taken his own life after he jumped from the 5th floor of the hospital
The reason for his action yet unknown, witnesses said the man in his early 50s on Wednesday morning, killed himself by plunging from the 5th floor of the administrative building of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo state.
Reports say the incident, which caught many people unawares, attracted their attention when they suddenly saw the man landing with a thud on the concrete floor outside the mortuary department of the hospital.
Dressed in blue traditional attire, with a pair of sandals, the deceased, whose identity could not be ascertained by the police as at the time of filing this report, smashed his head when he landed on the floor.
Though the workers at the hospital were still on strike, the management, according to the public relations officer of the hospital, Deji Bobade, detailed a doctor to examine him and he was certified dead, after which the police were invited and took some investigation notes before the remains were deposited at the hospital morgue.
Witnesses said that the man climbed the handrail by the staircase of the floor, got on top of the short visor constructed as an umbrella to protect people using the stairs, and then jumped which saw him land on the hard floor where his body could be easily seen by passers-by.
However, unconfirmed reports indicated it that the man left a note indicating he was duped of N30 million and so decided to take his life. The note was said to have been taken away by the police.
