It came as a shock to residents of GRA in Kaduna state in northern Nigeria, as a government demolition team escorted by armed security operatives stormed the headquarters of the factional All Progressive Congress (APC) party at 11B Sambo Road and reducing the building to rubble.
Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi had few weeks back donated his personal house at number 11B Sambo road, as the secretariat of APC faction.
The lawmaker representing Kaduna north central senatorial district, convert the building – a duplex – to the head office of the faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which he leads.
The building was demolished within a few hours.
The development happened less than two days after the faction said it had suspended Nasir el-Rufai, governor of the state, for anti-party activities.
In an attempt to justify the act, a senior government official who did not want to be named told said that the Kaduna state Urban and Property Development Agency (KASUPDA) carried out the demolition because the property was allocated for “residential purpose and not for political activities”.
