Abia Governor congratulates Pinnick on CAF elevation, assures him of support

The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, has congratulated the NFF President Amaju Melvin Pinnick on his elevation to the office of the First Vice president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Ikpeazu in his congratulatory message he personally signed on July 9 also assured the NFF boss of full support in the face of the distractions he is facing at home.
The Governor’s letter reads, “I received with delight and elation, the news of your election, at the just concluded CAF Emergency Congress, as the First Vice President of the eminent Confederation of African Football (CAF).
“Having followed your trajectory for some time, your elevation did not come to us as a surprise. Your ascendancy in Nigerian, continental and global football hierarchy is a reward for your hard work, dedication and perseverance over the years. We have no doubt that greater glory yet awaits.”
The Abia State Chief Executive Officer who is very familiar with the happenings in the world of sports told the NFF President he was watching closely the events at the NFF Glass House and noted that God’s favour would see Pinnick through the period of distraction.
Ikpeazu added, “I am not unmindful of the attempts to distract you at home. I am happy that you have chosen to approach it with stoic equanimity. I am also happy that rise almost coincided with your persecution. God is indeed faithful.
“On behalf of my family, Government and people of Abia State, I congratulated you and urge you to remain on the path that has enabled you find favour before God and before man. My regards to my sister, your wife.”
And even as the letters of felicitation continue to arrive on Pinnick’s desk, he will be busy again on Saturday in St Petersburg as he has been appointed the Match Commissioner for the Russia 2018 third place match between Belgium and England. This will be the sixth match that the NFF president is presiding over as the Commissioner having also been in charge of the semi final game between France and England in the same Russian city of St. Petersburg on Tuesday. Before that semi final game he had handled four other matches in the competition which ends on Sunday with the final match between France and Croatia.
