It is definitely not only in Enugu and other Nigerian cities that fans of Rangers International are celebrating the Aiteo Cup victory of the Flying Antelopes in Asaba Wednesday night.
In fact, news coming out of the United States of America (USA) indicates that it is Rangers all the way…from North Carolina to Houston, Alabama name it.
A patron of the Enugu club, Benson Ezeomeogo Ejindu who called it from his base in Charlotte, North Carolina said he has been popping champagne with friends to celebrate the miracle of Asaba.
“We are happy Rangers have done it again. The manner the victory came made it superb. Coming back from three goals down was to say the least awesome. I promised before the game that they would hear from me should they win. I will fulfill my pledge when I get home,” Ejindu said.
Chairman of Ex Rangers association in the States, Donald “Stone” Igwebuike said the association is proud of the team.
“The players displayed the never say die fighting spirit of Ndigbo which the club is known for. We congratulate the coaches, players and Gov Ugwuanyi for his support to the team.”
Charles Okoye, another ex Rangers was full of praise for the team, even as he drummed support for them ahead of their continental campaign next term. He noted that Rangers can re enact the 1977 feat if given the right support.
