Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson has been given a pat on the back by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Monimichelle, Ebi Egbe for completing the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa and attracting the female FA Cup final to the city.
Rivers Angels and Ibom Angels would today do battle in the female final of the Aiteo Group sponsored FA Cup at the 10,000 capacity, Samson Siasia Stadium that boasts of a geo tech turf installed by a Nigerian firm, Monimichelle.
Speaking yesterday in Yenagoa, Egbe noted that today’s final would be the first time in the history of Bayelsa that a national cup final would be played in the state, even as he commended Gov Seriake Dickson for investing in sports and attracting the first big game to the state.
“We are happy that Gov Dickson has taken sports to the next level in Bayelsa. For the first time, Yenagoa is hosting a national soccer cup final, courtesy of Dickson’s support for sports. Beyond Tuesday’s final, Bayelsa soccer teams that before now were all in exile are back home. Dickson has done well and deserves kudos,” Egbe said.
Egbe stressed that just like the Enyimba Stadium turf in Aba, which his outfit also constructed, the Samson Siasia Stadium pitch is also world class.
“Rivers Angels and Ibom Stars would have the opportunity to play on a turf that has zero undulation, cool and lush green. I m happy Bayelsa State, which is my state, queued into Monimichelle’s vision of eradicating bad pitches, not just in Nigeria but in Africa,” Egbe said.
