My campaign, PDP not involved in vote buying – Obaze
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Anambra State governorship election, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, has denied allegations of voter inducement by members of his party.

“I can tell you I am not involved in any way. My campaign is not involved in any way; we have campaigned vigorously. We are not interested in buying votes.”

ICYM: Politics shouldn’t be life and death – Obasanjo

A former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has advised politicians that politics should not be about life and death.

Obasanjo gave the advice in Calabar, Cross River State at the public presentation of a book titled: Stepping Forward with Uti J.D. Agba, written by Goddy Jedy-Agba and Mathias Okoi-Uyouyo.

Bianca Ojukwu celebrates APGA victory in ward

Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, the widow of late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, expressed joy over the victory recorded by the All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate, incumbent Governor Willie Obiano, at the polling units in her ward, Umudim Central School, in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State.

A breakdown of results collated after voting in the ward is as follows:

Vote counting ongoing in most areas

Counting of votes have started in some polling units where elections commenced on schedule in the Anambra governorship poll.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that voting ended at exactly 2p.m, and counting of votes immediately commenced in the polling units where accreditation and voting commenced between 8a.m and 9a.m on Saturday.

NAN reports that INEC has 4,608 polling units across the 21 local governments areas.

Observer groups express mixed feelings
Some election observers who monitored the governorship election in Anambra on Saturday have expressed mixed feelings over the exercise, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The Executive Director, Youth Initiative for Advocacy, Growth and Advancement, Mr. Samuel Itodo, told the News Agency of Nigeria that materials and personnel arrived various polling units late.

Itodo said 28 per cent of polling units recorded arrival of materials and personnel as at 7.30a.m., except in Awka North and Awka South Local Government Areas where materials and personnel arrived before 7.30a.m.

APC gov candidate alleges intimidation of supporters
The All Progressives Congress Governorship hopeful in Anambra governorship election, Dr. Tony Nwoye, has alleged intimidation and harassment of party supporters in some parts of the state.

Nwoye made this allegation when he voted in his Nsugbe Ward I in Anambra East Local Government Area on Saturday at 11:50a.m.

He decried the arrest and detention of the APC state chairman, Mr. Emeka Ibe, “for no just cause.” (NAN)

APGA decries allegedly malfunctioning card readers

The All Progressives Grand Alliance has decried the alleged malfunctioning of several card readers used for Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The National Chairman of APGA, Dr. Victor Oye, made the observation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Awka on Saturday.
