BREAKING: Army General escapes death by whiskers

…as suspected gunmen invade home, kill one

In a commando styled operations, suspected gunmen invaded the home of the Commander of the Nigerian Army Engineers Major General John Malu and fired sporadically at his house in Tse Adoo village in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue state.
The attack on Gen. John Malu, younger brother of late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant Gen. Victor Malu, it was gathered,  took place on Monday when the gunmen, stormed the village in the early hours of the day and wasted no time in raining bullets at his house while Malu was said to be inside his room.
Although, details of the attack was still sketchy at the time of this report, sources from the area disclosed that some soldiers who were in the house quickly responded and succeeded in repelling the attackers.

It was gathered from a family source that the Gen. Malu had gone home to visit his family over the weekend when the armed gang who rode on over 30 motorbikes stormed his residence at about 6am shooting sporadically.

The source said:  “When the armed men got to the entrance of his house, they enquired of his whereabout, unfortunately, they saw a young man who was an assistant to the driver of a truck, they shot and killed him. “After that they made attempt to gain entrance into the house of Gen, Malu but were resisted by the military personnel on guard in the house. “The gunmen got hold of somebody in the house who they shot on the arm and asked him to take them to where Gen. Malu was.

Commandant 72 Special Force Battalion, Lt Col Suleiman Mohammed who confirmed this to newsmen on phone on Monday night said the gunmen attacked Malu’s residence at about 6am.
“It is true that some gunmen attacked the General in his village around 7am this morning but the soldiers who were with him repelled them,” he said, adding that Malu was at home at the time of the attack.
