Chairman of the nation’s premier league board, LMC, Shehu Dikko has tipped Enyimba to get past top Moroccan side, RAJA in the semi finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, insisting that there is nothing special about highly rated RAJA.
Dikko who spoke exclusively to NewsReportersng.com in London after the World Footballer of the Year award said he sees Enyimba going all the way to lift the trophy.
In his words: “There is nothing special about RAJA. I see Enyimba beating them and going all the way to do the country proud by lifting the cup. I m really impressed with the performance of the club. The good thing is that they have kept improving with every game and their return home to Aba has boosted their confidence. They should approach the first leg at home with confidence and get a good result.”
Dikko who bemoaned the poor run of the other Nigerian clubs in the continent this term said the re alignment of the league calendar would help the nation’s flag bearers from next term.
“It is quite unfortunate that our clubs had a poor run, but thank God for Enyimba. This is why everybody has to rally Enyimba in their quest to win the CAF Confederation Cup. Moving forward, I m sure the fortunes of our clubs in the continent will improve from next term when we start the league in November in line with the new calendar of CAF.”
Enyimba will on October 3 play host to RAJA in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup in Aba, while Egypt’s Al Masry and AS Vita of DR Congo would slug it out in the other semifinal tie.
