After completing two massive projects in their alma mater, a multi purpose hall and a hostel, Old Boys of College of Immaculate Conception (CIC), Enugu have resolved to look in the direction of classrooms.
The Old Boys who held their annual convention in Enugu over the weekend resolved that the next project they would be embarking on is the renovation of classrooms.
Briefing newsmen after the two day convention, a leading member of the body, United States of America based, Benson Ezeomeogo Ejindu (MVP) said having completed the very massive N500m hostel project, it is time to ensure the students learn under a conducive atmosphere.
“We are now going to go into classrooms renovation and as usual when we come back home again we would be commissioning the project. We want to thank God for what the Old Boys are doing for the school. CIC now boasts of a modern hostel for the students and a world class multi purpose hall. We are determined to do more,” Ejindu said.
It would be noted that Ejindu got a special plague for emerging the highest individual donor, while the class of 82 got a golden plague for emerging the highest donors set wise.
Speaking during the convention, President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo commended the Old Boys for taking interest in uplifting CIC, a College which has the record of producing five former governors of Enugu State.
Nwodo who himself is an Old Boy noted that “Aku ruo uno” which literally interpreted means bringing wealth home was a good theme for this year’s convention. He charged Ndigbo to always think home and ensure the promotion of Igbo language and culture.
Next year’s CIC convention is billed to hold in the United States of America.
