Coronavirus claims medical doctor in Katsina

A medical doctor, Dr Aliyu Yakubu has become the first health worker to die of the dreaded coronavirus disease in Nigeria.
Katsina state governor Aminu Bello Masari who confirmed the development on Tuesday evening said that Dr. Aliyu Yakubu,  owns  private hospital in Daura and  had recently travelled to his home state of Kogi from where he proceeded to Lagos and returned to his Daura base.  He said three days after his return, the medical doctor became sick and was  hospitalised at the Nigerian Air Force hospital in Duara.
The Governor said: “He was hospitalised at the Nigerian Air Force Reference Hospital, Daura and he died two hours after admission.
“His samples were taken to the NCDC facility in Abuja and he was diagnosed to be COVID-19 positive. Before his death, he had hypertitise and he was also hypertensive.
“Out medical response team are in Daura now, trying to get all persons the late doctor interacted with or had contact with since he returned to Daura.”
