Delta State Government said it has initiated full investigation into the alleged killing of a 28-year old man, Joseph Pessu in Warri area of the state.
Witnesses said the victim was killed by security operatives enforcing the stay at order by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to prevent the dreaded Coronavirus disease.
Reacting to the alleged murder, the state Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu in a statement said government was worried as a result of the incident, noting that the government has sent a delegation to the deceased family to condole with them over the loss of their son.
The commissioner stated also that the military authorities have been contacted to carry out an investigation into what led to the killing, calling on the people to remain calm and not to take laws into their hands while the government conducts investigation.
Aniagwu commended the people of Delta State for their cooperation so far by staying in their houses but called for further cooperation with the State Government to wipe out the virus from the state.
