Lagos based businessman and a die hard Super Eagles supporter, Ben Odunze has tipped the Super Eagles to win the African Nations Cup billed for early next year in Cameroon.
Odunze who had before the Russia 2018 World Cup offered each player a plot of land should they reach the quarterfinals of the tournament said, given the young crop of players Gernot Rohr paraded in Russia, the Eagles would dazzle in the continent.
“Eagles may not have gone beyond the group stage in Russia, but I think we have the best team right now in Africa. The players are young and would continue to get better and stronger if kept together. All Rohr need do is to scout for one or two fresh legs to sharpen his attack. Eagles biggest problem in Russia was the attack that was blunt,” Odunze said.
The Imo State born soccer lover who was in Russia to cheer the Eagles said he was disappointed when Rohr and his boys failed to make it out of the group stage despite putting up a good fight against Argentina.
“I was praying for them to progress so that they get my plots of land offer in Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos. I was really disappointed with the way things turned out with only a few minutes to the end of the game against Argentina.”
The Eagles failed to reach the World Cup second round after losing 1-2 to Argentina in Saint Petersburg. The four other African representatives, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia and Senegal also failed to progress.
