Enyimba will play at home in July -Monimichelle

By George Aluo

The long wait by Enyimba fans to see their team stage a return home will end this July.

The contractor handling the regrassing of Enyimba Stadium turf, Ebi Egbe said yesterday in a television program that all the jobs currently on going at the stadium would be completed in a matter of days.

He said the Confederation of African Football (CAF) would definitely give Enyimba the nod to play their July 18 Caf Confederation Cup tie against Ivorian side Williamsville at Aba.

“As we speak, the stadium is wearing a new look with a geotech lush green turf. Other facilities like dressing room and toilets are all being upgraded. The stadium is being painted in Enyimba colors. Over 200 people are right there now working. It is a massive transformation,” Egbe said.

Egbe who is the CEO of Monimichelle said the turf his company has laid at the Enyimba fortress is top notch as it is the same kind of turf Russia is using to host the world at the on going Russia 2018 World Cup.

“I m happy a good number of Nigerians are in Russia, they would come home to see that what we have in Russia is the same kind of turf that is here in Aba. The ball behaviour is going to be the same like a natural grass turf. What we have installed in Aba is the latest technology when you talk about a geotech pitch.”

Egbe was full of praise for Gov Okezie Ikpeazu who he noted wanted the very best for Enyimba Stadium.

“Gov Ikpeazu is a man who wants the very best and Monimichelle shares his vision.”

Two time African champions, Enyimba is the only Nigerian team still in the continental race this term. The club has in the last three seasons been prosecuting their home matches at the UJ Essuene Stadium in Calabar.
