The alleged injustice meted out to the people of Imo state following the upturning of election victory of Governor Emeka Ihedioha, by the Supreme Court has been rejected by the people of the state.
Imo people came out in their large numbers to protest the declaration of Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the winner.
In the result declared by INEC in March 2019, Emeka Ihedioha had won with over 200,000 votes by Hope Uzodinma came a distant fourth with 96,000 votes.
Surprising the Supreme Court had in ruling on January 14, 2020 added some votes for Uzodinma and gave him victory over Ihedioha who was already governor of the state.
The decision was received with shock in the state and most residents of the state came out in their large numbers on Sunday to protest against the alleged injustice meted out on them.
Imo State citizens both young and adults cried for the return of the mandate they willingly and freely gave Emeka Ihedioha to be their governor and was voided by the supreme Court.
They wonder how results of the election should be higher than the people accredited to vote in the 2019 governor election.
Apart from Imo State, other states where Imo people lived also experienced pockets of protests.
All they are asking for is the return of the man, they freely voted for.
