Lagosians in long trek as gridlock bites harder

It was like a mass exodus on the Agege Motor road as Lagosians resorts to taking long walk following the heavy gridlock that has enveloped the Lagos metropolis.

From Ladipo Bus stop on the ever busy Lagos Abeokuta Expressway, the gridlock had built up and continue till the bus stop commonly called “Ile Zik” when motorist can ride easily to their destination.
Commuter who spoke to lament that the gridlock is taking a toll on them, adding that a journey which they pay N200 has suddenly short up to N400.
For instance they say that from Oshodi to Egbeda or Iyana Ipaja which was hitherto N200 had suddenly reached N400 and a journey from Oshodi to Ikeja Along bus stop has also doubled in price.

It was leant that the gridlock is caused by a palliative being done on the failed potion of the Lagos Abeokuta Express way which many say it was a good development but could have been done at night.
The story is not different on Airport Road in Lagos has traffic has spilled from Ikeja under bridge down to MM2 and beyond. Also the Oshodi area is not left as work on the Expressway has pushed motorist to the service lane causing slow movement of vehicles.
Commercial Motorcycles, commonly called Okada has become the most popular means of transportation on this routes and many commuter pay as high as N1,000 for ride .
“We must get to our destination and meet up our appointments, traffic or no traffic,” Adebayo Makanju told
The OPAY Okada riders, it was learnt are now having a field day and are making much profit within a short period.
