Politicians react to attack on Fayose

Top politicians in Nigeria have reacted to the attack on the Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, allegedly by gun toting anti- riot police personnel.
According to the former President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, who spoke via twitter, “I am appalled at the images coming out of Ekiti. The Federal Government should ensure that everything is done to preserve our hard-earned democracy.”
Also Senator Ben Bruce, representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District, in his tweet on his handle @benmurraybruce, said: “It is not a coincidence that all the mouthpieces of the peoples party, @OfficialPDPNig are being targeted even unconstitutionally. Today’s attack on @GovAyoFayose by the @APCNigeria Govt, shows the depth of lawlessness of this admin. We are losing our country. Enough is Enough!”
Senator Dino Melaye criticized the Federal Government deployment of heavy security in the state, saying, “God help us. Election that is 4 days ahead. Already the place has been militarised. Ekiti people must show courage.”
Femi Fanikayode in a tweet, also chided the Federal Government saying, “using your police to lay siege to Govt. House, shooting bullets in the air and attempting to assassinate @GovAyoFayose will not result in your candidate winning the election on Saturday. The sordid level that Buhari has degenerated to just to win the Ekiti state election is barbaric.
Meanwhile, British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright, has called for a peaceful, credible and transparent governorship election in Ekiti on Saturday, July 14.
Arkwright made the call during a courtesy visit to Gov. Rauf Aregbesola on Wednesday in Osogbo.
