Super Eagles players would smile home with a plot of land each in Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos, should they reach the last eight of the Russia 2018 World Cup.
A Lagos based businessman, Ben Uchenna Odunze made the promise over the weekend in Lagos while speaking on Sportsville, an Independent sports television show on Channels television.
Odunze said he is confident the Eagles would rise to the occasion in Russia and become the first African country to reach the semi final of the World Cup.
“This squad is young and they remind me of the USA 94 World Cup Eagles. Our own little way of encouraging them is to give them a plot of land each in EUC Homes at Ibeju Lekki should they reach the last eight. Should they qualify for the semi final, then we add something on top for them,” Odunze said.
The Imo State born football enthusiast said he would be in Russia to cheer the team, even as he urged Nigerians to pray for the nation’s success at the Mundial.
Meanwhile, the first batch of members of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) would be jetting out of the country today.
National chairman of the body, Rev Sam Ikpea said 100 members would leave today, while the second batch would storm Russia on the 15th.
Ikpea said the Russian Chapter of the club has already mobilized Nigerians in the country ahead of the arrival of those coming from home.
“One thing I can assure you is that Eagles won’t lack support in Russia. We are set to give the team maximum support,” Ikpea said.
