President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Melvin Pinnick has declared that the soccer federation would treat the Golden Eaglets like Super Eagles as they begin their preparations for Tanzania 2019 U17 AFCON.
Amaju while celebrating Nigeria’s qualification after the 3-1 penalty shootout victory over Ghana Sunday night in Niamey said he was proud of the young lads who are truly the future Super Eagles.
“What we have now is a bunch of players that are truly young and with a bright future. For us in the federation, we have resolved to treat them like Super Eagles right from this stage. We want them to be in the right mental and psychological mood as they grow up. The same way we prepared the Eagles for the World Cup in Russia is the way we are going to prepare them for Tanzania. We are looking beyond Tanzania. We are looking at the future and this is the time to begin to psyche up these kids,” Amaju said.
The NFF boss said the Eaglets would before hitting Tanzania embark on a training tour of Qatar and Jordan where they would be exposed to world class facilities.
Nigeria’s Samson Tijani was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament in Niamey, while the nimble –footed Olakunle Olusegun was top scorer with four goals.
