Former acting president of NFF, Chief Mike Umeh has hailed the return of Amaju Melvin Pinnick as president of the nation’s soccer governing body.
Umeh in a congratulatory message to Pinnick said he is a round peg in a round hole.
“The Congress has done well by re electing him. Pinnick apart from the success stories recorded on the field of play has made Nigerian football to have a voice at the international level. We would have taken our football back if the Congress didn’t re elect him,” Umeh said.
Ebi Egbe , the Chief Executive Officer of Monimichelle on his part said Pinnick is simply the right man for the job, moving forward.
Egbe whose outfit re grassed the Enyimba Stadium said Pinnick has done well in the last four years and deserves a second term in the interest of Nigerian football.
“I m happy Pinnick has been re elected. It is a well deserved victory,” Egbe said.
Meanwhile, Pinnick moments after the elections said his victory was not a personal victory but a victory for Nigerian football.
“I want to thank the Congress for bringing me back, but I must say that what happened today is victory for Nigerian football.”
Amaju who was magnanimous in victory hugged his opponent Aminu Maigari after he was declared winner.
The election was one in which everything went the way of Pinnick and his team as his first vice Seyi Akinwumi also returned alongside other members like Ahmed Fresh, Anyansi Agwu , Babagana Kali and Suleiman Yahaya Kwande.
Only the duo of Chris Green and Otunba Sunday Dele Ajayi failed to return. While Green opted not to contest, Dele Ajayi who ran against Seyi Akinwumi for the Vice presidency position was floored as he got only one vote against Akinwumi’s 43.
